The audience was convinced that Johan Browall's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Olle Tunander was relentless in the 27th minute of the game. Johan Browall took the ball and in the 29 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Olle Tunander. Olle Tunander dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Carlos Valderrama's late challenge caught a Каблешково's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The VfL Wolfsburg fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Olle Tunander should have stopped the shot.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jerry Fristedt was the one to do the kick off. Olle Tunander made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when José Luis Sanchez sent off a good shot on target. When Kim Torstensson fell near the penalty area in the 69th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored VfL Wolfsburg's protests and gave Kim Torstensson a yellow card for diving instead. Kim Torstensson kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Каблешково's Nesho Ginkov was substituted for Nasko Elenchev. Каблешково made a substitution. Miroslaw Klose replaced Johan Browall. After 71 played minutes VfL Wolfsburg got a freekick which was hit by Kim Torstensson. After a rather tough play, VfL Wolfsburg's Marciano Egun got a free kick in the 91st minute. Miroslaw Klose received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Olle Tunander came out and tried to block the shot, but Miroslaw Klose slotted it home off the left post making it 1-8 in the 93rd minute. The Каблешково supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Каблешково would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
