With 28 minutes on the clock, Senon Abravanel commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. One of Independente FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of La Mandarina Mecánica:s goal. Telo Abalos guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. In the 37th minute, Raí Prestes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Telo Abalos was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Telo Abalos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fernando Lucas, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Hudson Toscano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Telo Abalos was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 75th minute of the match Nilson Duarte shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Telo Abalos showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Telo Abalos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Álvaro Matos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Constancio Abecia hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. In the 80th minute Raí Prestes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Telo Abalos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
