If Yusuf Ziya Cerit had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. La Para made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernardo Suriani in the 33rd minute of play. After having played for 34 minutes, Fred Lara managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Lugano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fred Lara was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. La Para took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bernardo Suriani, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hyblae FC's Didico Jonen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jack Saunders in the 41st minute of play. In the 46th minute, Jack Saunders left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Lugano fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fred Lara to make the kick off. La Para made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernardo Suriani in the 57th minute of play. Jack Saunders received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Didico Jonen came out and tried to block the shot, but Jack Saunders slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 60th minute. FC Lugano's Enéas Silva was substituted for Igor Linares. A collision led to FC Lugano getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Klas Tingelholm hit a great ball. La Para showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernardo Suriani, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. La Para took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bernardo Suriani, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hyblae FC's Didico Jonen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save Hyblae FC from getting a goal against them. In the 80th minute Klas Tingelholm shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Didico Jonen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cui Cheng Liang took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 82nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Didico Jonen. Hyblae FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. With his leg Didico Jonen managed to avoid a goal in the 83rdth minute, when FC Lugano's Fred Lara fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 86th minute, Enéas Silva reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Didico Jonen. The goal made the score 0-4. Didico Jonen didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Klas Tingelholm went, in the 90th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-5 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Klas Tingelholm in the 93rd minute of play forced Hyblae FC's goalkeeper Didico Jonen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of FC Lugano booed when Hyblae FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernardo Suriani didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fred Lara got free with Didico Jonen in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Fred Laras short, quick shot in the 96thth minute got Didico Jonen to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The FC Lugano supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing FC Lugano would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
