The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 7 minutes, Rodolfo Avendaño mouthed his way into the referee's book. Agapito Payet breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Lew Maurer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ignacio Abaunza in the 31st minute of the match. After 34 minutes Todos al Fondo's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Adriano Bollhalder who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on FC Wil 1900's corner Adriano Bollhalder fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Agapito Payet quite easily take care of the ball. In the 35th match minute, FC Wil 1900 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Popcorn Knoblauch to maneuver through the defense. After 36 played minutes, Todos al Fondo's Rodolfo Avendaño shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Lew Maurer came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Todos al Fondo reached it. Rodolfo Avendaño's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lew Maurer read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. Denis Garnelo took the ball and in the 40 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Lew Maurer. Lew Maurer dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Thiago Payet's late challenge caught a FC Wil 1900's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Thiago Payet helped the player get up and apologised. Karim Gerber hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Rodolfo Avendaño made a great header on Todos al Fondo's corner, it was just that FC Wil 1900's Lew Maurer managed to reach the ball for a save.
