The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With a little luck, De Ontembare Leeuwen's Heiko Som got control of the ball when 余永川 tried to sneak it across the goal line. 余永川's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Heiko Som read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. The corner ended in Ye Hong Shi almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but De Ontembare Leeuwen's Heiko Som did a great save. In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Arthur Bufi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 24th minute Gwidon Cwojdak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Heiko Som saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, De Ontembare Leeuwen's Stef Mol got a free kick in the 24th minute. Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's 余永川 got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Gong Fan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 余永川 recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 35 minutes into the match, De Ontembare Leeuwen's goal looked a bit too open when Gwidon Cwojdak came free, but Heiko Som reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 39th minute, Olavo Quadros got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ye Hong Shi hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raymond Heersprink in the 48th minute of play forced Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Arthur Bufi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.
