The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Gwidon Cwojdak got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Agustín Orion showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from 余永川 in the 6th minute of the match. The supporters of Maravilla booed when Cruzeiro Esporte Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristi Saron didn't get a good kick on the ball. Olavo Quadros kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. In the 28th minute, 余永川 ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Agustín Orion was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Enrique de Mendonça fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Agustín Orion having to interfere. After 37 minutes, Gwidon Cwojdak made it 2-0 with a short kick to the right side. Maravilla's Agustín Orion tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 43rd minute, Pedro Paulo Dante hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 44 minutes into the match, Maravilla's Iván Leguizamón sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Arthur Bufi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Iván Leguizamón scored 2-1 in the 44th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Arthur Bufi, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The wind increased when Gwidon Cwojdak made the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Iván Leguizamón came free, but Arthur Bufi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Paulo Arnau fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Maravilla's protests and gave Paulo Arnau a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Maravilla getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Paulo Arnau hit a great ball. In the 57th minute, 余永川 left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cruzeiro Esporte Clube fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. 63 minutes into the match, Maravilla's goal looked a bit too open when 余永川 came free, but Agustín Orion reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gwidon Cwojdak in the 65th minute of play forced Maravilla's goalkeeper Agustín Orion to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Agustín Orion came out of the goal in the 72nd minute to try and stop a shot by Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's 余永川. But to his dismay, 余永川 quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Douglas Botelho was substituted for Enrique de Mendonça. Agustín Orion made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 余永川 in the 76th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gwidon Cwojdak in the 78th minute of play forced Maravilla's goalkeeper Agustín Orion to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Gwidon Cwojdak's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Agustín Orion was relentless in the 78th minute of the game. With 86 minutes on the clock, Prospero Gabrio commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 85 minutes into the game, one of Maravilla:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 97th minute 余永川 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Agustín Orion saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
