Chicão de Azevedo was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Sílvio Luiz da Costa in the 29th minute of play forced Academia Rio's goalkeeper Gigel Tilea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 36 played minutes Academia Rio got a freekick which was hit by Dumitru Pantelimon. Academia Rio's Gigel Tilea proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save Academia Rio from getting a goal against them. After 38 minutes Academia Rio's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Luan Lucas who took care of the corner kick. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Sergiu Coșeriu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Chicão de Azevedo made a huge save.
