Stig-Arne Boström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Osvaldo Shantala, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. Stig-Arne Boström made a fantastic save in the 7th minute, when Sydney Quirino sent off a good shot on target. After 11 minutes of play, Brothers of Mercy's Ulf Öfverman made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Emerson Leão was left in no man's land by his defense there! Stig-Arne Boström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cléber Paes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jörn Matsson kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. Stig-Arne Boström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Osvaldo Shantala, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Stig-Arne Boström was a little too slow when Sydney Quirino got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 18th minute. The score was now 1-1. Stig-Arne Boström showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Osvaldo Shantala in the 21st minute of the match. Emerson Leão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Niklas Wik in the 28th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Brothers of Mercy's zone, Osvaldo Shantala stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stig-Arne Boström came out of the goal and Osvaldo Shantala tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Karl-Oskar Käcker received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Emerson Leão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 39th minute, Karl-Oskar Käcker hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 41st minute Osvaldo Shantala shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stig-Arne Boström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
