After a rather tough play, Santa Maradona's Godofredo Malvin got a free kick in the 9th minute. 11 minutes into the match, Rangers FC's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Santana came free, but Fergus Fairbairn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Roberto Boniel took the ball and in the 12 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fergus Fairbairn. Fergus Fairbairn dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Stevie McGilvray kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. Luis Santana scored 0-3 in the 17th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Fergus Fairbairn, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 20 minutes of play, Santa Maradona's Roberto Boniel made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fergus Fairbairn was left in no man's land by his defense there! Fergus Fairbairn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benigno Vermudo, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. After a rather tough play, Santa Maradona's Roberto Boniel got a free kick in the 24th minute. In the 28th minute, Ronan McLaws hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 29 minutes, Luis Santana made it 0-5 with a short kick to the right side. Rangers FC's Fergus Fairbairn tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After a rather tough play, Rangers FC's Tim Charles got a free kick in the 33rd minute. After a rather tough play, Rangers FC's Stevie McGilvray got a free kick in the 34th minute. In the 47th minute, Danny Gilespie ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cristo Haritz was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-5. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-5 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Luis Santana to strike the kick off in the second half. Rangers FC were furious when Tim Charles was red carded, 56 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 71 played minutes Rangers FC got a freekick which was hit by Danny Gilespie. A collision led to Santa Maradona getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Cecilio Ubarna hit a great ball. After 78 played minutes Luis Santana rounded Rangers FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-6. Roberto Boniel could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Fergus Fairbairn made a huge save. Rangers FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 88th minute, when Luis Santana scored to the left of an out of position Fergus Fairbairn, making the score, 1-7. Santa Maradona played a much better game than Rangers FC and deserved their victory. The Rangers FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
