In the 14th minute Severino Falcão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cesar Romelio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Severino Falcão took the ball and in the 15 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cesar Romelio. Cesar Romelio dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matan Brito in the 19th minute of play forced Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goalkeeper Emílio Veiga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Emílio Veiga got control of the ball when Claudio Iturri tried to sneak it across the goal line. 24 minutes into the match, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goalkeeper Emílio Veiga had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Claudio Iturri. Severino Falcão recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Gladiadores's zone, Severino Falcão stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cesar Romelio came out of the goal and Severino Falcão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gladiadores's goalkeeper Cesar Romelio, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jesus Lluis in the 47th minute of play forced Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goalkeeper Emílio Veiga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Severino Falcão to make the kick off. Gladiadores's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Reynaldo Dionísio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-7. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Nova Iguaçu MZFC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
