The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Venancio Odol made in the 5th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Higinio Barros. After a rather tough play, Zandarin FC's Dorival da Costa got a free kick in the 6th minute. If Narciso Vergaray had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pepe Santoro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Célio Leme in the 13th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Zandarin FC's Walmir Schmidt got a free kick in the 14th minute. Zandarin FC's Carlos Augusto Secco shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 16th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Pepe Santoro but with some difficulty. 18 minutes into the game, Higinio Barros was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. INDEPENDIENTE FUTBOL CLUB's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Zandarin FC the free kick. 23 minutes into the match, INDEPENDIENTE FUTBOL CLUB's goal looked a bit too open when Célio Leme came free, but Pepe Santoro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arsenio Erico sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Walmir Schmidt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Zandarin FC booed when INDEPENDIENTE FUTBOL CLUB was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arsenio Erico didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 39 played minutes INDEPENDIENTE FUTBOL CLUB got a freekick which was hit by Alejo Eleder. The audience thought a goal was coming when Célio Leme got free with Pepe Santoro in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Higinio Barros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Pedrinho Severo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

INDEPENDIENTE FUTBOL CLUB made a substitution. Faustino Fertus replaced Luisito Jaen. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Célio Leme to strike the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Célio Leme managed to get in a good position for a shot. Zandarin FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Célio Leme was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pepe Santoro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 56 minutes, Walmir Schmidt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Zandarin FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Walmir Schmidt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Célio Leme received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Pepe Santoro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Célio Leme in the 67th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pepe Santoro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Pepe Santoro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Célio Leme in the 68th minute of play. Pepe Santoro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Walmir Schmidt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Narciso Vergaray had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The throw-in from Venancio Odol in the 83rd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Zandarin FC's Reynaldo Carioca. Zandarin FC's Pedrinho Severo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Narciso Vergaray in the 85th minute of play. After a rather tough play, INDEPENDIENTE FUTBOL CLUB's Faustino Fertus got a free kick in the 88th minute. Célio Leme fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pepe Santoro having to interfere. Pepe Santoro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Richard Fantini, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. In the 94th minute of the match, Narciso Vergaray tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Pedrinho Severo saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 96 minutes into the match, INDEPENDIENTE FUTBOL CLUB's Higinio Barros sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pedrinho Severo narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
