When the match had gone on for 43 minutes, Yan Rosado took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Cláudio Taffarel to make any attempt to save it. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

If Raí Custódio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Noroeste Paulista eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
