Cayetano Gumaro got a throw-in 15 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Bernardo Todor. Ramon Calvino stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ernesto Marin's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. Ernesto Marin took the ball and in the 18 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ramon Calvino. Ramon Calvino dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Augusto Dei hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, Riquelme Fútbol Club's Melchor Erramun tried to score from far away in the 21st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. If Cristobal Berto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's Antonio Mundo got a free kick in the 26th minute. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The supporters of Riquelme Fútbol Club booed when NEWELL´S OLD BOYS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antonio Mundo didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Albano Asteri fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's protests and gave Albano Asteri a yellow card for diving instead. Eloy Flores showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Antonio Mundo in the 96th minute of the match. Augusto Dei hit a great freekick 100 minutes into the match. When the match was over Riquelme Fútbol Club could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than NEWELL´S OLD BOYS throughout the match.
