Jairo Formerio's late challenge caught a Lord of the Wings's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jairo Formerio helped the player get up and apologised. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Apolo Richie managed to get in a good position for a shot. NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's supporters rose to their feet, but Apolo Richie was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alisdair Ferries breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 28 minutes into the game, Theo Roberts was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Lord of the Wings's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave NEWELL´S OLD BOYS the free kick. In the 28th match minute, Lord of the Wings was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Theo Roberts to maneuver through the defense. Apolo Richie might have been able to make a better finish in the 29th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alisdair Ferries. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Apolo Richie ran back to his position shaking his head. With a little luck, Lord of the Wings's Alisdair Ferries got control of the ball when Antonio Mundo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Alisdair Ferries was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Erasmo Millrick showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 36 minute of play. Through an outstanding action, after 41 minutes, Alisdair Ferries successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Ramon Calvino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tam Clerk, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. In the 44th minute, Apolo Richie got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tam Clerk took the ball and in the 46 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ramon Calvino. Ramon Calvino dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tam Clerk made a kick off. In the 53rd match minute, NEWELL´S OLD BOYS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rene Bernabel to maneuver through the defense. Ramon Calvino made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Finlay Falconer sent off a good shot on target. In the 62nd minute Apolo Richie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alisdair Ferries saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 67 minutes into the match, Apolo Richie had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alisdair Ferries. Lord of the Wings's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Apolo Richie was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. A collision led to Lord of the Wings getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Stuart McLucas hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Lord of the Wings's Stuart McLucas got a free kick in the 77th minute. 79 minutes into the match, Lord of the Wings's goal looked a bit too open when Apolo Richie came free, but Alisdair Ferries reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 80 minutes into the match, NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's goalkeeper Ramon Calvino had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Finlay Falconer. Stuart McLucas hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. In the 85th minute of the match Apolo Richie shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alisdair Ferries showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Alisdair Ferries made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jairo Formerio in the 90th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erasmo Millrick in the 92nd minute of play forced Lord of the Wings's goalkeeper Alisdair Ferries to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 95th match minute, Lord of the Wings was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fergus Malcolm to maneuver through the defense.
