After some fancy dribbling in the 3rd minute, Anton Robert managed to get in a good position for a shot. Black Dragons's supporters rose to their feet, but Anton Robert was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Merlin Dolan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jeremy Laube struck a weak shot in the 5th minute. Merlin Dolan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Black Dragons. Merlin Dolan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lovis Camiscia in the 7th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Anton Robert's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Merlin Dolan was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. Malcolm Neal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arnaldo Berardi having to interfere. In the 32nd minute, Anton Robert got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Jeremy Laube kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Merlin Dolan. That made the score 1-0 in the 33 minute of play. In the 39th minute, Malcolm Neal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Anton Robert was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of Zamalek FC booed when Black Dragons was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lovis Camiscia didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Black Dragons getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Yannic Banholzer hit a great ball. When Jeremy Laube came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Black Dragons fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jeremy Laube couldn't finish the play. When Black Dragons's Anton Robert in the 62nd minute got a chance for a shot 62nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Arnaldo Berardi was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Will Holt showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 81 minute of play. After 86 minutes, Yannic Banholzer mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Black Dragons and the Zamalek FC players grew even worse after the yellow card.
