With an extended leg and a bit of luck Régis Castro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 44 minutes into the game, Teodosio Argenis lined in a short shot 1-1 behind a frustrated Régis Castro.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Pedro Augusto de Barros stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Faustino Hegoi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Pedro Augusto de Barros came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Portuguesa fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedro Augusto de Barros couldn't finish the play. Portuguesa's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
