After having played for 3 minutes, Rubens Reis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. BURITIS FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rubens Reis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rubens Reis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vladimiro Barroso having to interfere. 11 minutes into the match, AD Pontassolense's goal looked a bit too open when Rubens Reis came free, but Vladimiro Barroso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gustavo Unai made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joaquim Palhares in the 12th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Victor Godoi during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to BURITIS FC getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Victor Godoi hit a great ball. After having played for 20 minutes, Joaquim Palhares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AD Pontassolense's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joaquim Palhares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gustavo Unai showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vítor Patrício, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. The audience was convinced that Vítor Patrício's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gustavo Unai was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. The supporters of AD Pontassolense booed when BURITIS FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Victor Godoi didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Vítor Patrício came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the AD Pontassolense fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vítor Patrício couldn't finish the play. Rubens Reis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Vladimiro Barroso made a huge save. BURITIS FC's Gustavo Unai played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernando Portela in the 36th minute of play. After a rather tough play, BURITIS FC's Agostinho Carneiro got a free kick in the 37th minute. After a defensive mix-up in BURITIS FC's zone, Vítor Patrício stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gustavo Unai came out of the goal and Vítor Patrício tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gustavo Unai made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernando Portela in the 39th minute of play. Rubens Reis hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. After 41 minutes of play, AD Pontassolense's Joaquim Palhares made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gustavo Unai was left in no man's land by his defense there! A collision led to AD Pontassolense getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Fernando Portela hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, AD Pontassolense's Raimundo Matos got a free kick in the 47th minute. After the first half AD Pontassolense were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
In the 52nd minute Rubens Reis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vladimiro Barroso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 57th minute, Vivaldo Veiga left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The BURITIS FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. 62 minutes into the game, Joel Pombal was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. BURITIS FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave AD Pontassolense the free kick. After a defensive mix-up in AD Pontassolense's zone, Rubens Reis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vladimiro Barroso came out of the goal and Rubens Reis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 72 minutes, Ricardo Passos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AD Pontassolense and the BURITIS FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ricardo Passos hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. In the 80th minute Fernando Portela shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gustavo Unai saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vivaldo Veiga recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Victor Godoi hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. With an all-out effort, AD Pontassolense's Gustavo Unai threw himself towards the right post 89 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Fernando Portela, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 91st minute, BURITIS FC's Agostinho Carneiro seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Agostinho Carneiro the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of BURITIS FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Agostinho Carneiro had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. BURITIS FC:s Gustavo Unai showed great skill when he stopped Afonso Castanheira:s penalty. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilton Santos in the 96th minute of play forced AD Pontassolense's goalkeeper Vladimiro Barroso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 98th minute Fernando Portela shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gustavo Unai saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
