Felix Aguilera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 23 minutes into the match, Morro Grande E.C's goal looked a bit too open when Dario Nuñez came free, but Christiano Trevisan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Nicolas Belo fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored EL CORTO FC's protests and gave Nicolas Belo a yellow card for diving instead. In the 26th match minute, EL CORTO FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nicolas Belo to maneuver through the defense. In the 27th minute, Wilian de Almeida got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilian de Almeida in the 29th minute of play forced EL CORTO FC's goalkeeper Felix Aguilera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. EL CORTO FC's Felix Aguilera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wilian de Almeida in the 34th minute of play. 36 minutes into the match, Leonel Donatello had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Felix Aguilera. EL CORTO FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Leonel Donatello was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Dario Nuñez who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 48thth minute tested the skills of Christiano Trevisan when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Dario Nuñez made the kick off in the second half. Nicolas Belo was shown his second yellow card after 57 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Leonel Donatello received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Felix Aguilera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. EL CORTO FC's Felix Aguilera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save EL CORTO FC from getting a goal against them. In the 64th minute, Leonel Donatello left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Morro Grande E.C fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. After 70 played minutes EL CORTO FC got a freekick which was hit by Amador Abel. After a defensive mix-up in Morro Grande E.C's zone, Arnaldo Beat stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Christiano Trevisan came out of the goal and Arnaldo Beat tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ronaldinho Meira's late challenge caught a EL CORTO FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ronaldinho Meira helped the player get up and apologised. When Baldomiro Javiero came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the EL CORTO FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Baldomiro Javiero couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leonel Donatello in the 84th minute of play forced EL CORTO FC's goalkeeper Felix Aguilera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Leo Ledesma recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Leonel Donatello during the 87th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. EL CORTO FC's Felix Aguilera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save EL CORTO FC from getting a goal against them. The crowd rose to their feet as Jorge Sá kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Felix Aguilera. That made the score 0-5 in the 92 minute of play. The Morro Grande E.C supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Morro Grande E.C would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
