The referee ignored The Wild Bunch's protests and gave Ingvar Tholsson a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, The Wild Bunch's Ingvar Tholsson got a free kick in the 5th minute. The Wild Bunch's Egil Örnberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ivan Tavio in the 8th minute of play. Ingvar Tholsson was shown his second yellow card after 9 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The supporters of Florida Gulf Coast booed when The Wild Bunch was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ingvar Tholsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Florida Gulf Coast's Cipriano Aznaro couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 10th minute. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Egil Örnberg showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Egil Örnberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ivan Tavio in the 18th minute of the match. After 18 played minutes The Wild Bunch got a freekick which was hit by Bernt Abelsson. The Wild Bunch's Egil Örnberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maximino Beila in the 21st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivan Tavio in the 22nd minute of play forced The Wild Bunch's goalkeeper Egil Örnberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
