Khai Choy started the match with the kick off. Diego Vargas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Clive Politiek, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ramon Shantala during the 7th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ramon Shantala hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. If Albino Asteri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Armando Rosalio in the 12th minute of play forced Albirex Niigata FC's goalkeeper Alexander Tan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 12 minutes, Clive Politiek mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Albirex Niigata FC and the Mercado Paulista F.C players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 12th match minute, Albirex Niigata FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Clive Politiek to maneuver through the defense. In the 28thth minute of the game Armando Rosalio who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Albirex Niigata FC's Alexander Tan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 29th play minute Clive Politiek came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Diego Vargas. 1-0. In the 32nd match minute, Albirex Niigata FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Andrew Tongson to maneuver through the defense. 34 minutes into the match, Albirex Niigata FC's goal looked a bit too open when Armando Rosalio came free, but Alexander Tan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 37 minutes of play Albirex Niigata FC's Clive Politiek was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 38th minute, Clive Politiek hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 41 minutes into the match, Ramon Shantala notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Albirex Niigata FC's Alexander Tan. Alexander Tan was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 45 minutes into the match, Mercado Paulista F.C's goalkeeper Diego Vargas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Khai Choy. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Alexander Tan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Armando Rosalio's shot from short distance in the 58th minute. In the 59th minute, Maximiliano Urtungo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alexander Tan was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. After 63 minutes, Famih Chee mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Albirex Niigata FC and the Mercado Paulista F.C players grew even worse after the yellow card. Mercado Paulista F.C's Albino Asteri got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alexander Tan came out of the goal in the 74th minute to try and stop a shot by Mercado Paulista F.C's Armando Rosalio. But to his dismay, Armando Rosalio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. Alexander Tan was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Albino Asteri showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-5 in the 81 minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Albirex Niigata FC's zone, Albino Asteri stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alexander Tan came out of the goal and Albino Asteri tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Albirex Niigata FC's Khai Choy got a free kick in the 88th minute. Alexander Tan made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Armando Rosalio sent off a good shot on target. During the 94th minute of the match Khai Choy completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Khai Choy a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 94th minute, Khai Choy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Armando Rosalio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
