The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 9 minutes into the game, Víktor Sarmento cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Yelle Van Damme was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a little luck, Corinthians's Romeu Souto got control of the ball when Raf De Winter tried to sneak it across the goal line. Vladimir Soares hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Romeu Souto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raf De Winter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Corinthians getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Vladimir Soares hit a great ball. Fabien Frederickx hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. In the 33rd minute, Víktor Sarmento made a precise shot to the right of Yelle Van Damme. SK Gullegem's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. After a defensive mix-up in Corinthians's zone, Fabien Frederickx stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Romeu Souto came out of the goal and Fabien Frederickx tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half Corinthians were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Fernandinho Urbano made the kick off in the second half. In the 50th minute, Víktor Sarmento hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edmond Walder received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Romeu Souto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Corinthians's Romeu Souto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabien Frederickx in the 57th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fabien Frederickx in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Romeu Souto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Yelle Van Damme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edmílson Matorin in the 64th minute of play. Edmílson Matorin scored 0-3 in the 64th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Yelle Van Damme, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Mathis Van Eede's late challenge caught a Corinthians's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mathis Van Eede helped the player get up and apologised. After 69 played minutes Corinthians got a freekick which was hit by Acácio Ramos. After 72 minutes, Acácio Ramos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Corinthians and the SK Gullegem players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Corinthians getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Acácio Ramos hit a great ball. Edmond Walder received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Romeu Souto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Yelle Van Damme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernandinho Urbano in the 75th minute of play. Romeu Souto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Will Jamieson in the 77th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Corinthians defense, Raf De Winter kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Romeu Souto. The Corinthians fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Romeu Souto should have stopped the shot. 81 minutes into the game, Dean Jamieson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SK Gullegem's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Corinthians the free kick. After 81 played minutes SK Gullegem got a freekick which was hit by Dean Jamieson. A collision led to SK Gullegem getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Dean Jamieson hit a great ball. If Almir Furlan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Romeu Souto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fabien Frederickx, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Romeu Souto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabien Frederickx in the 89th minute of play. SK Gullegem's Yelle Van Damme played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernandinho Urbano in the 91st minute of play. In the 92nd match minute, SK Gullegem was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Johnny Oyen to maneuver through the defense. Acácio Ramos took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 93rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Yelle Van Damme. SK Gullegem's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Edmond Walder fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romeu Souto having to interfere.
