In the 4th minute Marco Quirze shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yelle Van Damme saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fabien Frederickx sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 9th play minute Johnny Oyen came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Jorge Enol. 1-0. After a rather tough play, SK Gullegem's Fabien Frederickx got a free kick in the 16th minute. The supporters of Lyons booed when SK Gullegem was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabien Frederickx didn't get a good kick on the ball. Yelle Van Damme showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marco Quirze in the 26th minute of the match. It was a well-played corner which Narciso Guter managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Lyons's Jorge Enol proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save Lyons from getting a goal against them. Raf De Winter succeeded in the game's 41st minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-0. In the 44th minute of the game, Narciso Guter landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. 44 minutes into the game, Edmond Walder was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SK Gullegem's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lyons the free kick. Edmond Walder hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Elias Torfs's late challenge caught a Lyons's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Elias Torfs helped the player get up and apologised. In the 48th minute, one of SK Gullegem:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for SK Gullegem. Yelle Van Damme had in the 50thth minute some difficulties stopping Clodoveo Llanos's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball.

The wind increased when Fabien Frederickx made the kick off in the second half. With an all-out effort, Lyons's Yelle Van Damme threw himself towards the right post 54 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Marco Quirze, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 62nd match minute, Lyons was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Froilan Joey to maneuver through the defense. After 63 played minutes SK Gullegem got a freekick which was hit by Edmond Walder. Yelle Van Damme didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 65th minute, which inside left pole to 3-1. After a rather tough play, Lyons's Marco Quirze got a free kick in the 67th minute. Fabien Frederickx struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Jorge Enol didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SK Gullegem. The supporters of SK Gullegem booed when Lyons was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mario Ricart didn't get a good kick on the ball. With an all-out effort, Lyons's Yelle Van Damme threw himself towards the right post 73 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Teofilo Baladi, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 75th minute Lyons were awarded a corner. Clodoveo Llanos went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Lyons's Froilan Joey to fire away a dangerous shot which Yelle Van Damme despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Fabien Frederickx received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Jorge Enol tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Edmond Walder had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Froilan Joey hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. When Gerrit Quintens came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the SK Gullegem fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gerrit Quintens couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Lyons's Froilan Joey got a free kick in the 88th minute. After 91 played minutes Lyons got a freekick which was hit by Victoriano Ferran. Jorge Enol showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edmond Walder in the 92nd minute of the match. Will Jamieson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Jorge Enol tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Victoriano Ferran could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 95th minute of the match, but Yelle Van Damme made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fabien Frederickx in the 98th minute of play forced Lyons's goalkeeper Jorge Enol to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The SK Gullegem fans cheered their team off the field, for while Lyons had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
