The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 2 played minutes FC ciufulici got a freekick which was hit by Rareș Antonescu. 3 minutes into the match, FC ciufulici's goal looked a bit too open when Horaţiu Dinulescu came free, but Marius Rusu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 4th match minute, FC ciufulici was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edgar Comarnescu to maneuver through the defense. Valeriu Ungur might have been able to make a better finish in the 5th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marius Rusu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Valeriu Ungur ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sandu Pătrășconiu in the 9th minute of play forced Phoenix Strikers's goalkeeper Johnny Visch to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Remus Onea fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC ciufulici's protests and gave Remus Onea a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Phoenix Strikers's Ioan Cozma got a free kick in the 15th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Edgar Vlas managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC ciufulici's supporters rose to their feet, but Edgar Vlas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Johnny Visch breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 21st match minute, FC ciufulici was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edgar Comarnescu to maneuver through the defense. Johnny Visch showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sandu Pătrășconiu in the 34th minute of the match. Horaţiu Dinulescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Marius Rusu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Johnny Visch took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edgar Vlas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Ionuț Romeo made the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Mauricio Quentin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marius Rusu was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. Ionuț Romeo struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Marius Rusu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Phoenix Strikers. If Edgar Vlas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marius Rusu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ionuț Romeo in the 96th minute of the match. When the final whistle sounded FC ciufulici left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Phoenix Strikers.
