The supporters of Club Sportivo Italiano booed when Quitilipi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rigoberto Clemencin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Quitilipi's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Club Sportivo Italiano the free kick. When Urbano Nuñez fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Quitilipi's protests and gave Urbano Nuñez a yellow card for diving instead. In the 45th minute, Urbano Nuñez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Guaberto Cebo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nicolas Burutzagi during the 95th minute.
