The audience thought a goal was coming when Fructuoso Echavarri got free with Júlio Jacinto in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 18th minute, Salud y República's Abdika Philip dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. After some careless play in the S.C. Corinthians Paulista defense, Abdika Philip kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Júlio Jacinto. The S.C. Corinthians Paulista fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Júlio Jacinto should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, S.C. Corinthians Paulista's Cássio Aparecido got a free kick in the 25th minute.
