Caetano Monteiro came out of the goal in the 3rd minute to try and stop a shot by Qikiqtarjuaq FC's Michael Owen. But to his dismay, Michael Owen quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 7 minutes into the match, Cyrus Velasco notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Icoara Football Club's Caetano Monteiro. Caetano Monteiro was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Michael Owen scored 0-3 in the 12th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Caetano Monteiro, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 15th minute the ball was on its way in behind Icoara Football Club's goalkeeper Caetano Monteiro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Caetano Monteiro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Michael Owen's shot from short distance in the 16th minute. In the 17th minute of the match Qikiqtarjuaq FC got a corner. Icoara Football Club's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Hilario Slaughter ran over to the corner to take the kick. Michael Owen took the ball and in the 19 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Caetano Monteiro. Caetano Monteiro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-4. In the 24th minute, Cyrus Velasco made a precise shot to the right of Caetano Monteiro. Icoara Football Club's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-5. In the 28th minute, Icoara Football Club's Walmir Carvalho seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Walmir Carvalho the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Icoara Football Club protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Walmir Carvalho had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Walmir Carvalho kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. 30 minutes into the game, Cyrus Velasco cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-6. Caetano Monteiro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 34 minutes into the game, Qikiqtarjuaq FC's Michael Owen nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Caetano Monteiro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-7. Michael Owen took the ball and in the 39 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Caetano Monteiro. Caetano Monteiro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-8. If Cyrus Velasco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Caetano Monteiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Michael Owen in the 43rd minute of play. Moses Daniel blasted a shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Caetano Monteiro having to make a save. Renaldo Battle hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. When Genílson de Queirós fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Icoara Football Club's protests and gave Genílson de Queirós a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Qikiqtarjuaq FC booed when Icoara Football Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Genílson de Queirós didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-8.
The wind increased when Michael Owen made the kick off in the second half. Caetano Monteiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Michael Owen in the 56th minute of play. In the 57th minute Qikiqtarjuaq FC were awarded a corner. Hilario Slaughter went to the cornerflag to take it. 59 minutes into the match, Icoara Football Club's goal looked a bit too open when Hilario Slaughter came free, but Caetano Monteiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 62nd minute of the match, Denver Grimes tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Caetano Monteiro saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Cyrus Velasco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 63rd minute of the match, but Caetano Monteiro made a huge save. Icoara Football Club's Caetano Monteiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Denver Grimes in the 69th minute of play. Caetano Monteiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Michael Owen in the 70th minute of the match. Caetano Monteiro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Michael Owen's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. Caetano Monteiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Michael Owen in the 77th minute of play. Caetano Monteiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Denver Grimes, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. After a rather tough play, Icoara Football Club's José Augusto Moraes got a free kick in the 79th minute. The audience was convinced that Michael Owen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Caetano Monteiro was relentless in the 87th minute of the game. If Hilario Slaughter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match clock showed 89 minutes, the score became 0-11 when Cyrus Velasco sped through Icoara Football Club's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Caetano Monteiro. If Michael Owen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hilario Slaughter struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Caetano Monteiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Qikiqtarjuaq FC. Caetano Monteiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Michael Owen in the 97th minute of play. Qikiqtarjuaq FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
