The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Ricardo Palli got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Gerardo Oalo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Anibal Egoitz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ricardo Palli in the 7th minute of the match. In the 9th minute Nils Taffenberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anibal Egoitz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Steffen Dyrehøj charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Steffen Dyrehøj the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 21st minute, Steffen Dyrehøj hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rosendo Izotz took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 21st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Maurits Weinhardt. Pheonix FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. A collision led to El Retorno de Palermo getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Rosendo Izotz hit a great ball. Maurits Weinhardt was out of position in the 26 minute of play, and Danilo Milian capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Danilo Milian really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. When Laust Kisling fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pheonix FC's protests and gave Laust Kisling a yellow card for diving instead. In the 29th minute, Laust Kisling hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 32 minutes into the match, Pheonix FC's goal looked a bit too open when Angelino Bernard came free, but Maurits Weinhardt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Wagner Schaumburg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Angelino Bernard kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in El Retorno de Palermo's zone, Ricardo Palli stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Anibal Egoitz came out of the goal and Ricardo Palli tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ricardo Palli to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Leandro Ofelio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maurits Weinhardt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ricardo Palli's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Anibal Egoitz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. Maurits Weinhardt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Angelino Bernard in the 60th minute of the match. 66 minutes into the match, Gerardo Oalo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Maurits Weinhardt. Pheonix FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gerardo Oalo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Vicente Bakar kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. The supporters of El Retorno de Palermo booed when Pheonix FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Steffen Dyrehøj didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 83rd minute Gerardo Oalo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maurits Weinhardt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pheonix FC's Maurits Weinhardt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Angelino Bernard in the 86th minute of play. Maurits Weinhardt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerardo Oalo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 90 minutes into the game, Leandro Ofelio cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Maurits Weinhardt was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Angelino Bernard in the 95th minute of play forced Pheonix FC's goalkeeper Maurits Weinhardt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee ended the match the El Retorno de Palermo players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
