The tension between the Curumalán AFC and the El Retorno de Palermo players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 3rd minute, Nicolás Domingo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gerardo Oalo's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 5thth minute, Amado Ishmael skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 6th minute of the match El Retorno de Palermo got a corner. Curumalán AFC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Angelino Bernard ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on El Retorno de Palermo's corner Angelino Bernard fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Amado Ishmael quite easily take care of the ball. In the 7th minute Ariel Estefan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anibal Egoitz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gabriel Avalos took the ball and in the 8 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Anibal Egoitz. Anibal Egoitz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. El Retorno de Palermo were furious when Eleuterio Savier was red carded, 16 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. A collision led to El Retorno de Palermo getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Danilo Milian hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Guillermo Espiridion during the 32nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 32nd minute, Guillermo Espiridion hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gabriel Avalos, 33 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gerardo Oalo got free with Amado Ishmael in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Anibal Egoitz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gabriel Avalos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 47th match minute, Curumalán AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Esteban Cambiasso to maneuver through the defense. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gerardo Oalo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, El Retorno de Palermo's goal looked a bit too open when Ariel Estefan came free, but Anibal Egoitz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Amado Ishmael took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Angelino Bernard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to El Retorno de Palermo getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Rosendo Izotz hit a great ball. Gabriel Avalos didn't quite understand what happened when in the 61 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. Amado Ishmael showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gerardo Oalo in the 63rd minute of the match. In the 63rd minute, Gerardo Oalo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Amado Ishmael was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Gabriel Avalos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Anibal Egoitz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ariel Estefan in the 74th minute of the match. The supporters of Curumalán AFC booed when El Retorno de Palermo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gerardo Oalo didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, El Retorno de Palermo's Anibal Egoitz got control of the ball when Hernán Losada tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Santo Astrada during the 84th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Santo Astrada hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Anibal Egoitz came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by Curumalán AFC's Esteban Cambiasso. But to his dismay, Esteban Cambiasso quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. El Retorno de Palermo's Anibal Egoitz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Esteban Cambiasso in the 89th minute of play. Anibal Egoitz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ariel Estefan, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hernán Losada got free with Anibal Egoitz in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Curumalán AFC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
