The audience thought a goal was coming when Desmond Rowell got free with Miguel Ilixo in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Miguel Ilixo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Desmond Rowell in the 18th minute. Miguel Ilixo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Giuseppe Jewell in the 26th minute of the match. After 28th play minutes Giuseppe Jewell shot 1-1, a short shot which went by Miguel Ilixo and just under the crossbar into goal. A collision led to Del Acuerdo getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Honorato Gaizko hit a great ball. Victor Hess in the 32ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Miguel Ilixo, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Zacarias Ospetsu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Santos FC booed when Del Acuerdo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edgard Iruinea didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match had gone on for 46 minutes, Giuseppe Jewell took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Miguel Ilixo to make any attempt to save it. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

Del Acuerdo's Miguel Ilixo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Desmond Rowell in the 56th minute of play. Santos FC were awarded a corner in the 57th minute after Del Acuerdo's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Desmond Rowell took the corner. Desmond Rowell made a great header on Santos FC's corner, it was just that Del Acuerdo's Miguel Ilixo managed to reach the ball for a save. The supporters of Del Acuerdo booed when Santos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jamar Maxwell didn't get a good kick on the ball. Miguel Ilixo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Giuseppe Jewell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Victor Hess kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Del Acuerdo's Mauro Senen got a free kick in the 89th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Victor Hess in the 92nd minute of play forced Del Acuerdo's goalkeeper Miguel Ilixo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edgard Iruinea recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Del Acuerdo's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
