Pendotiba's Eusébio da Costa managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Jarbas Hermes in the 4 minute of the game. 6 minutes into the game, Jarbas Hermes threw the ball into play from the sideline. Pendotiba's Egídio Pirani quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. If Naldo Hermes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Evaristo de Andrade made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Paulo de Castro in the 11th minute of play. In the 14th match minute, Pendotiba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Naldo Hermes to maneuver through the defense. With an all-out effort, Itajaí Football Club's Evaristo de Andrade threw himself towards the right post 17 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Luís Paulo de Castro, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 18 minutes, Clóvis Alagoano mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Pendotiba and the Itajaí Football Club players grew even worse after the yellow card. Clóvis Alagoano hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Norberto Marques hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Hoffmann in the 26th minute of play forced Itajaí Football Club's goalkeeper Christiano Cearense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 27th minute, Cristian Hoffmann ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Christiano Cearense was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 39 minutes into the match, Itajaí Football Club's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Hoffmann came free, but Christiano Cearense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Itajaí Football Club's Luís Paulo de Castro slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Evaristo de Andrade. That made the score 1-1 after 44 minutes of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cristian Hoffmann made a kick off. After 52 played minutes Pendotiba got a freekick which was hit by Eusébio da Costa. A collision led to Pendotiba getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Egídio Pirani hit a great ball. In the 61st minute, Itajaí Football Club's Manuel Pinho seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Manuel Pinho the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Itajaí Football Club protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Manuel Pinho had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After a defensive mix-up in Itajaí Football Club's zone, Elivélton Barbosa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Christiano Cearense came out of the goal and Elivélton Barbosa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Pendotiba's Egídio Pirani quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Jarbas Hermes, made in the 66th minute of the game. 70 minutes into the match, Leonardo Varela notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Pendotiba's Evaristo de Andrade. Evaristo de Andrade was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With a little luck, Itajaí Football Club's Christiano Cearense got control of the ball when Naldo Hermes tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 78th minute, Conrado Miranda hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Itajaí Football Club's Norberto Abreu got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Itajaí Football Club's Leonardo Varela got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Pendotiba's Evaristo de Andrade played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leonardo Varela in the 91st minute of play. Leonardo Varela received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Evaristo de Andrade tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
