In the 39th minute of the match El Millo de Haedo got a corner. corsaire nantais's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Pedro Luís Schmidt ran over to the corner to take the kick. Teofilo Rojelio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Romuald Combret in the 40th minute of play. Teofilo Rojelio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stanislas Chaperon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bonifacio Garoa in the 44th minute of play forced corsaire nantais's goalkeeper Franck Le Saux to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
