Teofilo Rojelio made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. 26 minutes had been played when some careless play by El Millo de Haedo's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Manuel Pinho was slow to take the kick. During this time Itajaí Football Club's players had a chance to rest. Sonny Aae tried in the 26th minute to hit away a contribution but miss-kicked the ball which ended up in his own goal and left an unhappy Teofilo Rojelio a with quite unnecessary self made goal. Result 2-0. Conrado Miranda succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 3-0 in the 30th playminute. Javier Eguzki hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. El Millo de Haedo's Teofilo Rojelio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Conrado Miranda in the 37th minute of play. Christiano Cearense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Uriel Isusko in the 38th minute of play. Teofilo Rojelio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luís Paulo de Castro in the 40th minute of the match. The supporters of Itajaí Football Club booed when El Millo de Haedo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sonny Aae didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Leonardo Varela came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Itajaí Football Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leonardo Varela couldn't finish the play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nicolas Azubeli made a kick off. The audience was convinced that André Piovezan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Teofilo Rojelio was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. In the 59th minute Luís Fabiano Corrêa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Teofilo Rojelio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 59thth minute of the game Conrado Miranda who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but El Millo de Haedo's Teofilo Rojelio was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, El Millo de Haedo's Saturnino Gergori got a free kick in the 61st minute. 64 minutes into the game, Nicolas Azubeli lined in a short shot 3-1 behind a frustrated Christiano Cearense. Itajaí Football Club's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
