After 21 played minutes Sarmiento de Resistencia got a freekick which was hit by Rodolfo Guerau. Rodolfo Guerau's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Miguel Ángel Ortiz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. The supporters of Sarmiento de Resistencia booed when S.E.R. Caxias do Sul was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ladislao Mazurkiewicz didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Rodolfo Guerau came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Sarmiento de Resistencia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rodolfo Guerau couldn't finish the play. Jaime Ellande kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. 34 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Sarmiento de Resistencia's Rodolfo Guerau fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Marcel Abreu received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Benigno Manilan came out and tried to block the shot, but Marcel Abreu slotted it home off the left post making it 4-0 in the 41st minute.

Miguel Ángel Ortiz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rodolfo Guerau in the 52nd minute of the match. In the 58th minute Ladislao Mazurkiewicz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benigno Manilan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rodolfo Guerau in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Miguel Ángel Ortiz saved S.E.R. Caxias do Sul from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Sarmiento de Resistencia's Rodolfo Mambru got a free kick in the 66th minute. In the 67th minute of the match Ladislao Mazurkiewicz shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Benigno Manilan showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rodolfo Guerau got free with Miguel Ángel Ortiz in the 74th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 81st minute, Rodolfo Guerau got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some careless play in the Sarmiento de Resistencia defense, Marcel Abreu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benigno Manilan. The Sarmiento de Resistencia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benigno Manilan should have stopped the shot. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
