New England Patriots's Luiz Gustavo Fontes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 7th minute of the match, managed to save New England Patriots from getting a goal against them. Luiz Gustavo Fontes was a little too slow when Baturalp Özdener got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 8th minute. The score was now 1-0. Ata Türkoğlu's late challenge caught a New England Patriots's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Şadi Cihaner didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Claudinho Aparecido went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Baturalp Özdener took the ball and in the 36 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Luiz Gustavo Fontes. Luiz Gustavo Fontes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. 40 minutes into the game, Baturalp Özdener cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Luiz Gustavo Fontes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ata Türkoğlu got free with Luiz Gustavo Fontes in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-1 at half-time.
