Martin Falaise sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 32nd minute Duda Pitta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nelson Cloarec saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gaspard Letourneux got free with Luiz Gustavo Fontes in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Nelson Cloarec made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudinho Aparecido in the 39th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Formation Pure Lyonnaise's zone, Claudinho Aparecido stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nelson Cloarec came out of the goal and Claudinho Aparecido tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 47th minute Claudinho Aparecido shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nelson Cloarec saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Formation Pure Lyonnaise players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. New England Patriots were winning 0-1.
