When the match had gone on for 3 minutes, Mugur Nisipeanu put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Jacek Giertych. Remigiusz Serwacki hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. In the 8th minute, Mugur Nisipeanu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 9 minutes into the game, Mugur Nisipeanu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. UFC STEAUA's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gliwicka Torcida the free kick. After a rather tough play, UFC STEAUA's Mugur Nisipeanu got a free kick in the 9th minute. The referee felt a red card was in order, 11 minutes into the game, when Enaut Ziguenza put in a rough tackle. In the 10th minute, one of UFC STEAUA:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for UFC STEAUA. UFC STEAUA:s Costică Petran showed great skill when he stopped Witold Rostow:s penalty. The audience was convinced that Mugur Nisipeanu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jacek Giertych was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Korneliusz Szpakowski in the 28th minute of play forced UFC STEAUA's goalkeeper Costică Petran to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 29 played minutes UFC STEAUA got a freekick which was hit by Alin Davidescu. In the 32nd minute, Remigiusz Serwacki ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Costică Petran was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Jacek Giertych stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mugur Nisipeanu's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. In the 39th minute of the match Emil Alexa shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jacek Giertych showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Mugur Nisipeanus short, quick shot in the 43rdth minute got Jacek Giertych to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Remigiusz Serwacki in the 48th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Costică Petran saved UFC STEAUA from getting behind. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mugur Nisipeanu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Albert Hodorog sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 57 minutes into the game, UFC STEAUA's Albert Hodorog nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jacek Giertych made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. When the match clock showed 60 minutes, the score became 3-1 when Mugur Nisipeanu sped through Gliwicka Torcida's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jacek Giertych. Palmiro Mourinho hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. Mugur Nisipeanu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mugur Nisipeanu struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Jacek Giertych didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for UFC STEAUA. Mugur Nisipeanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacek Giertych having to interfere. Jacek Giertych stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mugur Nisipeanu's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. When Albert Hodorog fell near the penalty area in the 94th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored UFC STEAUA's protests and gave Albert Hodorog a yellow card for diving instead. Albert Hodorog hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. When Remigiusz Serwacki came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Gliwicka Torcida fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Remigiusz Serwacki couldn't finish the play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. UFC STEAUA had played much better football throughout.
