Spectators: 7506 (Terracing: 5630, Seating: 1726, VIP seats: 150) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. László Medgyesi started the match with the kick off. 3 minutes into the match, Karl-Ove Christoffersson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sándor Jászberényi. Gyál United's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Karl-Ove Christoffersson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 8 minutes in the game, Róbert Vajda fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Jarl Andreasson having to interfere. In the 9th match minute, Gyál United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lajos Détári to maneuver through the defense. Tibor Kerékgyártó's late challenge caught a Guldsmedshyttan IK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tibor Kerékgyártó helped the player get up and apologised. In the 15th match minute, Gyál United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zoltán Ebedli to maneuver through the defense. Valentin Norberg's late challenge caught a Gyál United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Valentin Norberg helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Gyál United booed when Guldsmedshyttan IK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valentin Norberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sándor Jászberényi didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Olov Nyström went, in the 31st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. In the 35th minute, Karl-Ove Christoffersson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Guldsmedshyttan IK fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. Gyál United's Sándor Jászberényi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mats Berggren in the 40th minute of play. When Guldsmedshyttan IK's Mats Berggren, in the 41st minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Guldsmedshyttan IK. After the first half Guldsmedshyttan IK were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Karl-Ove Christoffersson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Róbert Vajda in the 51st minute of play forced Guldsmedshyttan IK's goalkeeper Jarl Andreasson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gyál United's Tibor Kerékgyártó got his second yellow card of the match in the 56th minute. The referee ordered Tibor Kerékgyártó off the ground. In a very dangerous position, a player in Gyál United fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 55th minute. Penalty! Christer Utter shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. After a defensive mix-up in Gyál United's zone, Karl-Ove Christoffersson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sándor Jászberényi came out of the goal and Karl-Ove Christoffersson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sándor Jászberényi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Olov Nyström in the 62nd minute of play. A collision led to Guldsmedshyttan IK getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Alf Ek hit a great ball. In the 74th minute, Karl-Ove Christoffersson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sándor Jászberényi was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-7. 85 minutes into the game, Karl-Ove Christoffersson recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Sándor Jászberényi. Karl-Ove Christoffersson showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-8. László Medgyesi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 94 minutes into the match, Guldsmedshyttan IK's goal looked a bit too open when László Medgyesi came free, but Jarl Andreasson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Guldsmedshyttan IK's Mats Berggren got a free kick in the 97th minute. Guldsmedshyttan IK were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Gyál United's much stronger midfield.
