Tom Are didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for MelissaMel. Ruy Lara could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Tom Are made a huge save. When FC Dundee's Hristo Botev in the 14th minute got a chance for a shot 14th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. MelissaMel's Carlinhos Pinho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hristo Botev in the 19th minute of play. Carlinhos Pinho stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hristo Botev's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. The audience was convinced that Hristo Botev's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Carlinhos Pinho was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. Endel Tihumets's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Carlinhos Pinho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carlinhos Pinho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Clemente Montenegro's late challenge caught a FC Dundee's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing FC Dundee would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
