The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. MelissaMel's Carlinhos Pinho proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save MelissaMel from getting a goal against them. Carlinhos Pinho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Almir Loureiro in the 7th minute of play. A collision led to Mexilhão F. C. getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Almir Loureiro hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, MelissaMel's Ruy Lara got a free kick in the 11th minute. With a little luck, MelissaMel's Carlinhos Pinho got control of the ball when Reinaldo Penha tried to sneak it across the goal line. Marcelinho Matorin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ruy Lara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Reinaldo Penha struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Carlinhos Pinho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexilhão F. C.. Augusto Valery hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. In the 19th minute, Noel Ortiz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Felippe Mineiro received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Carlinhos Pinho came out and tried to block the shot, but Felippe Mineiro slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 20th minute. Ruy Lara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Marcelinho Matorin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ruy Lara during the 26th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Raí Schmidt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 31st match minute, Mexilhão F. C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nelsinho Dantas to maneuver through the defense. Ruy Lara hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Carlinhos Pinho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Reinaldo Penha in the 43rd minute. Almir Loureiro hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Felippe Mineiro was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd match minute, Mexilhão F. C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eliézer Terra to maneuver through the defense. Carlinhos Pinho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Serafim Motta in the 57th minute of play. Ruy Lara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcelinho Matorin having to interfere. The supporters of Mexilhão F. C. booed when MelissaMel was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Augusto Valery didn't get a good kick on the ball. Almir Loureiro scored 2-0 in the 65th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Carlinhos Pinho, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Almir Loureiro in the 73rd minute of play forced MelissaMel's goalkeeper Carlinhos Pinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Felippe Mineiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlinhos Pinho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Marcelinho Matorin made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Ruy Lara sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 86 minutes, Nelsinho Dantas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mexilhão F. C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Nelsinho Dantas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 87th match minute, MelissaMel was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Guto Silveira to maneuver through the defense. 89 minutes into the match, Mexilhão F. C.'s Reinaldo Penha broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. MelissaMel's Ruy Lara got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. MelissaMel's Carlinhos Pinho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Almir Loureiro in the 94th minute of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the MelissaMel players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Mexilhão F. C..
