The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Nando Antunes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thorben Rittmann, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. Sydney FC's Klaus Mogg got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nando Antunes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Nando Antunes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Per Schäfer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 18 minutes into the match, F.Salgado F.C.'s goalkeeper Nando Antunes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Per Schäfer. With a little luck, F.Salgado F.C.'s Nando Antunes got control of the ball when Per Schäfer tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nando Antunes made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Per Schäfer sent off a good shot on target. Bartolomeo Heinlein received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. When Constantin Ehrgott fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sydney FC's protests and gave Constantin Ehrgott a yellow card for diving instead. Nando Antunes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Klaus Mogg in the 31st minute of play. F.Salgado F.C.'s Nando Antunes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save F.Salgado F.C. from getting a goal against them. Nando Antunes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Per Schäfer stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, F.Salgado F.C.'s Cláudio Marques got a free kick in the 56th minute. Nando Antunes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thorben Rittmann in the 58th minute of play. When Thorben Rittmann fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sydney FC's protests and gave Thorben Rittmann a yellow card for diving instead. In the 63rd match minute, Sydney FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thorben Rittmann to maneuver through the defense. F.Salgado F.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Per Schäfer was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. Klaus Mogg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nando Antunes having to interfere. 80 minutes into the game, Cláudio Marques cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Rasmus Gölz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 86 minutes into the match, Sydney FC's goalkeeper Rasmus Gölz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Délio Lima. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jeferson Cunha got free with Rasmus Gölz in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 92nd minute of the match F.Salgado F.C. got a corner. Sydney FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Délio Lima ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led F.Salgado F.C.'s Délio Lima to fire away a dangerous shot which Rasmus Gölz despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball.
