Union Madereros's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Fabio Dimo in the 21st minute. The corner led to Club Dep. Union Madereros's Cornelio Colas getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. In the 24th minute, Dalmacio Jurgi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Róbert Szepesvári showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Xandro Zubillaga, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Róbert Szepesvári prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlos Alberto Rios got free with Róbert Szepesvári in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Róbert Szepesvári stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gabino Navajas's shot from short distance in the 51st minute. Gustau Samano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ismael Ourente in the 52nd minute of play. After some careless play in the Club Dep. Union Madereros defense, Corderun Lasurtigui kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Róbert Szepesvári. The Club Dep. Union Madereros fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Róbert Szepesvári should have stopped the shot. Club Dep. Union Madereros's Domingo Resto was substituted for Aquilino Maldonado. Róbert Szepesvári showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Corderun Lasurtigui in the 60th minute of the match. Club Dep. Union Madereros's Róbert Szepesvári played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Alberto Rios in the 68th minute of play. Fabio Dimo hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. In the 73rd minute, Cornelio Servando got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 75th minute, Angelino Cuartio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
