The Independiente fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lukács Sóti got free with Christian Muc in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Zeledon Sazon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Pál Dankó tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Edelényi Bányász's Márton Baló got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 22 minutes into the match, Edelényi Bányász's goal looked a bit too open when Zeledon Sazon came free, but Pál Dankó reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Independiente's Christian Muc proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Independiente from getting a goal against them. If Zeledon Sazon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half Independiente were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Pál Dankó made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Feliciano Jaunti in the 55th minute of play. 57 minutes into the game, Jacinto Estavan recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Pál Dankó. Jacinto Estavan showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. Pál Dankó made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zeledon Sazon in the 60th minute. In the 66th minute Kliment Frontov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christian Muc saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gyula Gyulai in the 67th minute of play forced Independiente's goalkeeper Christian Muc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Christian Muc showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gordon Blue, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. The referee showed Jacinto Estavan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 80 played minutes Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Jacinto Estavan. Independiente's Christian Muc played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kliment Frontov in the 87th minute of play. The Edelényi Bányász supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Independiente's performance. The match ended with a win for Independiente.
