When Arturo Magliocco fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bar Marconi United's protests and gave Arturo Magliocco a yellow card for diving instead. After 14 played minutes Bar Marconi United got a freekick which was hit by Arturo Magliocco. The audience was convinced that Simão Travassos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gilberto Angelucci was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. The supporters of Bar Marconi United booed when Jenipapo SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oscar do Vale didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carmine Di Mascio in the 33rd minute of play forced Jenipapo SC's goalkeeper Luiz Fernando Neto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Leonardo Magalhães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luiz Fernando Neto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arturo Magliocco, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Jenipapo SC's Dadá Queirós slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gilberto Angelucci. That made the score 1-0 after 44 minutes of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Simão Travassos to make the kick off. Gilberto Angelucci took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Simão Travassos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Bar Marconi United's zone, Simão Travassos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gilberto Angelucci came out of the goal and Simão Travassos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carmine Di Mascio got free with Luiz Fernando Neto in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 68 minutes into the match, Arrigo Latini dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Luiz Fernando Neto, 1-1. Gilberto Angelucci showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dadá Queirós, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. After having played for 73 minutes, Dadá Queirós managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Jenipapo SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dadá Queirós was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 77th minute, Amedeo Testa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Carmine Di Mascio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 79th minute of the match, but Luiz Fernando Neto made a huge save. After 81 minutes Jenipapo SC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Corrado Primavera who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Corrado Primavera got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Luiz Fernando Neto quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After 82 played minutes Jenipapo SC got a freekick which was hit by Dadá Queirós. After 90 minutes, Corrado Primavera mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bar Marconi United and the Jenipapo SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Bar Marconi United getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Corrado Primavera hit a great ball. Percy Lopes, 91 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. In the 96th minute, Simão Travassos left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Jenipapo SC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Jenipapo SC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Bar Marconi United for a fine match.
