After 9 minutes, Omar Etor mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sporting de Gijón and the Sabadim Harammes PRD players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Sabadim Harammes PRD booed when Sporting de Gijón was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Omar Etor didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sporting de Gijón were awarded a corner in the 15th minute after Sabadim Harammes PRD's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Wilfredo Etxahun took the corner. After taking down the ball on Sporting de Gijón's corner Wilfredo Etxahun fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Olavo Moura quite easily take care of the ball. Eloy Timo charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eloy Timo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Eloy Timo hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Fausto George showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marco Paredes in the 20th minute of the match. In the 23rd minute, Lautaro Blanco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 24 minutes into the match, Sabadim Harammes PRD's Adélio Gameiro broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Omar Etor scored 0-2 in the 26th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Olavo Moura, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 28 played minutes Sporting de Gijón got a freekick which was hit by Eloy Timo. Fausto George made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alípio Freitas in the 29th minute. Fausto George was a little too slow when Alípio Freitas got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 29th minute. The score was now 1-2. 43 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goal looked a bit too open when Leonel Brochado came free, but Fausto George reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Wilfredo Etxahun in the 46th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Olavo Moura prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Wilfredo Etxahun's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Olavo Moura was relentless in the 46th minute of the game. Cristian Medina was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 47 minutes into the match. The supporters of Sabadim Harammes PRD booed when Sporting de Gijón was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 48 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristian Medina didn't get a good kick on the ball. Adélio Gameiro was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 50th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal.

In the 55th match minute, Sabadim Harammes PRD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rodolfo Candeias to maneuver through the defense. 58 minutes into the match, Sabadim Harammes PRD's goal looked a bit too open when Mauro Perez came free, but Olavo Moura reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 63rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Sabadim Harammes PRD's goalkeeper Olavo Moura, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Sabadim Harammes PRD's Alípio Freitas got a free kick in the 65th minute. Blas-Armando Giunta charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Blas-Armando Giunta the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Mauro Perez took the ball and in the 70 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Olavo Moura. Olavo Moura dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. Fausto George took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leonel Brochado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Olavo Moura showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mauro Perez, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Aaron Anselmino hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. Blas-Armando Giunta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Olavo Moura tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fausto George came out of the goal in the 94th minute to try and stop a shot by Sabadim Harammes PRD's Marco Paredes. But to his dismay, Marco Paredes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. The Sabadim Harammes PRD supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Sporting de Gijón's performance. The match ended with a win for Sporting de Gijón.
