Fausto George made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erkki Leesment in the 7th minute of play. In the 8th minute, Omar Etor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eloy Timo's late challenge caught a Grimório's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eloy Timo helped the player get up and apologised. Eloy Timo kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. Emanuel Holm struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Fausto George didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Grimório. With a little luck, Sporting de Gijón's Fausto George got control of the ball when Väino Kartul tried to sneak it across the goal line. The throw-in from Cristian Medina in the 21st minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Grimório's Riivo Äetma. In the 24th minute, Wilfredo Etxahun got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Grimório's Väino Kartul got a free kick in the 25th minute. If Erkki Leesment had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Uudo Lant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Celedonio Kinsen, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. In the 33rd minute, Eloy Timo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 38th minute Grimório were awarded a corner. Ernst Võsandi went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Sporting de Gijón's goalie and right to Emanuel Holm. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Sporting de Gijón's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Emanuel Holm in the 40th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fausto George saved Sporting de Gijón from getting behind. Ernst Võsandi kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. Sporting de Gijón made a substitution. Mauro Perez replaced Omar Etor. In the 49th minute of the match Eloy Timo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Uudo Lant skillfully saved the ball. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Wilfredo Etxahun to strike the kick off in the second half. Fausto George took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Väino Kartul, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Emanuel Holm sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Mauro Perez made in the 95th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Grimório's Lars-Erik Gullesson. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
