In the 16th minute Caetano Mattos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jeronimo Mon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 18 minutes into the match, Misericordia EC's goal looked a bit too open when Titan Nahas came free, but Carlos Dias reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Carlos Dias showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leonel Caponi in the 20th minute of the match. In the 22nd minute Titan Nahas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Dias saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carlos Dias stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Leonel Caponi's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. After 25 played minutes Misericordia EC got a freekick which was hit by Diogo Neiva. After having played for 26 minutes, Leonel Caponi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club Atlético Escocia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Leonel Caponi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Leonel Caponi in the 32nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Carlos Dias saved Misericordia EC from getting behind. 36 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Escocia's goalkeeper Jeronimo Mon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bob Dinamite. Jeronimo Mon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bob Dinamite in the 39th minute of play. Carlos Dias stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Titan Nahas's shot from short distance in the 42nd minute. The audience was convinced that Leonel Caponi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Carlos Dias was relentless in the 44th minute of the game. The supporters of Club Atlético Escocia booed when Misericordia EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ian Brasil didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luiz Paulo Ferraz to make the kick off. Caetano Mattos struck a weak shot in the 51st minute. Jeronimo Mon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Misericordia EC. Jeronimo Mon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bob Dinamite, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ciriaco Satordi during the 55th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Club Atlético Escocia getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Ciriaco Satordi hit a great ball. 58 minutes into the match, Misericordia EC's goalkeeper Carlos Dias had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Leonel Caponi. Club Atlético Escocia's Facundo Nahas was substituted for Titan Nahas. Club Atlético Escocia's Baldomero Inocente was substituted for Lucas Quinto. In the 68th match minute, Misericordia EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Diogo Neiva to maneuver through the defense.
