In the 16thth minute of the game Pieter de Zwart who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Astillero del Guayas's Long Yuan De was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience was convinced that Zarando Eguizabal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mirko Vervoort was relentless in the 18th minute of the game. Long Yuan De stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pieter de Zwart's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. 28 minutes into the game, Pieter de Zwart cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Long Yuan De was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Pieter de Zwart kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Pieter de Zwart in the 44th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Long Yuan De prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Mijdrecht Maffia's Jacob Scholte got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Long Yuan De made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pieter de Zwart in the 47th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Pieter de Zwart to make the kick off. Astillero del Guayas's Long Yuan De played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pieter de Zwart in the 57th minute of play. When Zarando Eguizabal came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Astillero del Guayas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zarando Eguizabal couldn't finish the play. Pieter de Zwart blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Long Yuan De having to make a save. Pieter de Zwart who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 77thth minute tested the skills of Long Yuan De when he managed to save the team from getting behind. With a little luck, Astillero del Guayas's Long Yuan De got control of the ball when Pieter de Zwart tried to sneak it across the goal line. Roger Rekers hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. Mirko Vervoort took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dani Galiana, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Astillero del Guayas booed when Mijdrecht Maffia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Otto Genkenaar didn't get a good kick on the ball.
