Orlando Sustrai started the match with the kick off. In the 2nd minute, Justin Langford hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Matthieu Abelard took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Niki Bundev, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 8 minutes into the match, Yala's goal looked a bit too open when Kasey Gobey came free, but Octavio Ferrer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 12 minutes into the match, Club Atlético de Newell's goal looked a bit too open when Guaberto Koldobika came free, but Matthieu Abelard reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Niki Bundev's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Matthieu Abelard read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. Niki Bundev took the ball and in the 13 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Matthieu Abelard. Matthieu Abelard dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Niki Bundev in the 17th minute of play forced Club Atlético de Newell's goalkeeper Matthieu Abelard to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Orlando Sustrai in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Matthieu Abelard prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Matthieu Abelard stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Orlando Sustrai's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. 31 minutes into the match, Seth Tanner sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Octavio Ferrer threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Seth Tanner this time. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Johnny Burns managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Atlético de Newell's supporters rose to their feet, but Johnny Burns was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Octavio Ferrer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Club Atlético de Newell's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Seth Tanner in the 40th minute.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Seth Tanner was the one to do the kick off. Club Atlético de Newell's Matthieu Abelard played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Orlando Sustrai in the 53rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kasey Gobey in the 64th minute of play forced Yala's goalkeeper Octavio Ferrer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Octavio Ferrer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Seth Tanner in the 64th minute of the match. If Niki Bundev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Guaberto Koldobika could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Matthieu Abelard made a huge save. Through an outstanding action, after 74 minutes, Matthieu Abelard successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 86th minute, Guaberto Koldobika ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Matthieu Abelard was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Fausto Nazzaro charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fausto Nazzaro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Club Atlético de Newell getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Fausto Nazzaro hit a great ball. 89 minutes into the game, Niki Bundev cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Matthieu Abelard was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Niki Bundev received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Matthieu Abelard came out and tried to block the shot, but Niki Bundev slotted it home off the left post making it 0-4 in the 92nd minute. Yala's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
