Carl Starfelt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martien Krommert, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. 14 minutes into the game, Real Club Celta de Vigo's Hassan Huerta nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gerald Moermans made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. If Amat Maldonado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of The Dalwhinnie Boys booed when Real Club Celta de Vigo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gustavo De la Torre didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gerald Moermans came out of the goal in the 23rd minute to try and stop a shot by Real Club Celta de Vigo's Frodo Acarreta. But to his dismay, Frodo Acarreta quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. In the 26th match minute, The Dalwhinnie Boys was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sven Duinhoven to maneuver through the defense. Evelio Lastras took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 27th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Gerald Moermans. The Dalwhinnie Boys's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Amat Maldonado during the 28th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Amat Maldonado kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. The Dalwhinnie Boys's Martien Krommert got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Gustavo De la Torre fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Real Club Celta de Vigo's protests and gave Gustavo De la Torre a yellow card for diving instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sven Duinhoven during the 38th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Sven Duinhoven hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. Micael Castelao hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Gustavo De la Torre kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

If Martien Krommert had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 63 minutes, Ralph Wilmink mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the The Dalwhinnie Boys and the Real Club Celta de Vigo players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 63rd match minute, The Dalwhinnie Boys was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ralph Wilmink to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hassan Huerta got free with Gerald Moermans in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gerald Moermans came out of the goal in the 70th minute to try and stop a shot by Real Club Celta de Vigo's Amat Maldonado. But to his dismay, Amat Maldonado quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Hassan Huerta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Real Club Celta de Vigo's supporters rose to their feet, but Hassan Huerta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gerald Moermans breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Hassan Huerta's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gerald Moermans read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 76th minute of play. In the 80th minute Stijn Klompe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carl Starfelt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gerald Moermans was out of position in the 92 minute of play, and Frodo Acarreta capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Frodo Acarreta really showed his touch with that goal: 0-4. The Real Club Celta de Vigo supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Real Club Celta de Vigo would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
