The supporters of Clube Atlético Mineiro booed when Salem Gunners BK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cícero Teles didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 7 minutes of play, Salem Gunners BK's Cícero Teles made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. José Maria Carvalho was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ernani Mesquita kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. Bengt-Åke Håkansson stood somewhat misplaced when Jude Bellingham came free in front of goal and shot 1-1 to the left of him in the 13 minute. After 16 played minutes Salem Gunners BK got a freekick which was hit by Dragoljub Rangelov. Oskar Wiman charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Oskar Wiman the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Salem Gunners BK's Oskar Wiman got a free kick in the 19th minute. After 20 played minutes, Clube Atlético Mineiro's Romário Ronaldo shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Bengt-Åke Håkansson came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Clube Atlético Mineiro reached it. José Maria Carvalho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oskar Wiman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With an all-out effort, Clube Atlético Mineiro's Bengt-Åke Håkansson threw himself towards the right post 26 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Jude Bellingham, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. José Maria Carvalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frederico Palmeira in the 27th minute of play. José Maria Carvalho came out of the goal in the 29th minute to try and stop a shot by Salem Gunners BK's Benjamin Jansson. But to his dismay, Benjamin Jansson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. In the 42nd minute Jude Bellingham shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bengt-Åke Håkansson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Clube Atlético Mineiro were awarded a corner in the 43th minute after Salem Gunners BK's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Romário Ronaldo took the corner. At last the ball reached Lamine Yambao at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of Salem Gunners BK. 3-3. José Maria Carvalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frederico Palmeira in the 46th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Frederico Palmeira to strike the kick off in the second half. George Singson was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 54 minutes into the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Clube Atlético Mineiro fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 53rd minute. Penalty! Romário Ronaldo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. José Maria Carvalho came out of the goal in the 61st minute to try and stop a shot by Salem Gunners BK's Oskar Wiman. But to his dismay, Oskar Wiman quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-4. 65 minutes into the game, Frederico Palmeira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Salem Gunners BK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Clube Atlético Mineiro the free kick. Jude Bellingham recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Clube Atlético Mineiro's zone, Frederico Palmeira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José Maria Carvalho came out of the goal and Frederico Palmeira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 76 minutes into the match, Salem Gunners BK's goal looked a bit too open when Jude Bellingham came free, but Bengt-Åke Håkansson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 77thth minute of the game Cícero Teles who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Clube Atlético Mineiro's José Maria Carvalho was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 81st match minute, Salem Gunners BK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benjamin Jansson to maneuver through the defense. Clube Atlético Mineiro's José Maria Carvalho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cícero Teles in the 83rd minute of play. Clube Atlético Mineiro's José Maria Carvalho proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save Clube Atlético Mineiro from getting a goal against them.
